Icebreaker by Hannah Grace
Maple Hills #1
Rating: ★★★★★
Dates Read: 2/21/23 - 2/22/23
Anastasia Allen has dedicated her entire life to pursuing her dream of making it onto Team USA. Ever since she laced up her skates at the age of five, Stassie has been a fierce and determined figure skater. Her talent and hard work paid off with a full college scholarship, earned through her exceptional performances on the Maple Hills skating team. With a grueling schedule that would make even the most driven individuals shed a tear, Stassie is driven by a singular purpose: to win. No exceptions.
Nathan Hawkins has never encountered a problem he couldn't solve. As captain of the Maple Hills Titans, the responsibility of keeping the team on the ice is resting on his shoulders. When a misunderstanding ends with the two teams sharing a rink, and Stassie's partner gets hurt, Nate swaps his stick for tights and one scary coach for an even scarier one. They find themselves stuck together in more ways than one, but it's fine because Stassie doesn't like hockey players..right?
"I have no idea how I will make it out of this alive because my imagination hasn’t done her justice, not even a little bit. I’d say she’s going to ruin all other women for me, but I don’t think about anyone but her."
My friend gifted me this book because she was super excited about it, and now I love her even more than I did before. The found family trope always gets me, and it was executed beautifully in this book. I loved the chemistry and banter between all of them, as well as the romantic and sexual chemistry between Anastasia and Nathan. I also really liked seeing the main character admit they need help, and getting therapy. Anastasia's growth by the end of the book made me so happy. Nathan is a top-tier book boyfriend, and I will take no criticism for that.
This is a book I can say without a doubt I will read over and over. I cannot wait for the second book, and I'm begging on my knees for a book about Henry. Hannah Grace, please.
P.S. the SPICE?????? HELLO!!
