Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings

A Brush with Love #2

Rating: ★★★★★

Dates Read: 2/5/23 - 2/6/23

Lizzie's life has been a series of mishaps and mistakes, from kitchen fires to pyramid schemes. She's never let anyone get too close, except for the occasional fling. However, after losing yet another job due to her ADHD, she has a two-night stand that changes everything.

Rake, having been burned in the past, has given up on relationships and intimacy. But something about Lizzie's charm and chaos breaks down his defenses. Their two nights together leave an impact, but he's determined to keep his emotions in check, especially since he lives in Australia and is far away from Lizzie.

However, everything changes when Lizzie reveals she's pregnant with his child. Despite his reluctance to be emotionally vulnerable, he's determined to be part of their child's life. As they navigate "platonic" single bed sharing and an underground erotic baking scheme, Lizzie and Rake discover that even the biggest mistakes can lead to beautiful consequences.

“Because life was a shadow before, but you’re the sun.”

Mazey Eddings has struck gold once again with this heartwarming and delightful book. I couldn't get enough of the main characters, each with their quirks and oddities that made them so endearing. Lizzie, in particular, was like a burst of sunshine, and I found myself wishing she were a real person I could meet.

The romance between Lizzie and Rake is absolutely swoon-worthy. Watching them both grow and discover themselves throughout the story was a joy. Their journey of self-discovery and figuring out what they truly want in life had me rooting for them from start to finish. There's also PLENTY of steam in this novel.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning, and I couldn't put it down. The emotional depth of the story even brought tears to my eyes, a testament to the author's skill in crafting engaging and touching narratives. I became so attached to the characters, and their journeys resonated with me deeply.

Overall, this book is a charming and fun read that I would highly recommend. Mazey Eddings' writing and storytelling never disappoint, and I can't wait to see what else she has in store.
