Florence Day, a ghostwriter for a successful romance author, has lost her belief in love after a painful breakup. Her career is on the line when her new editor, a handsome man, refuses to grant her a book deadline extension. Just when things seem hopeless, she receives an unwelcome phone call, forcing her to return to her hometown after ten years to bury her beloved father.

Though Florence misses her Southern roots and her loving, eccentric family, she can't bear to stay in the town that never understood her. However, everything changes when she encounters a ghost at her family's funeral parlor—broad and infuriatingly handsome, just like before. Both puzzled by his presence, they embark on a journey that challenges her beliefs about love and unveils unfinished business that will leave her questioning everything she thought she knew about romance.

This was an absolutely adorable book that captured my heart from start to finish. The blend of romance, humor, and heartwarming moments made it an unforgettable read. I was a little hesitant about the human/ghost romance aspect, but the author handled it brilliantly. Florence's journey of healing and self-discovery was beautifully portrayed, and I couldn't help but shed a few tears along the way.

The chemistry between Florence and Ben was off the charts, and their interactions had me hooked from the beginning. The way Florence tried to comfort Ben, only to remember he wasn't real, had me flipping pages with excitement and emotion. Florence's family dynamics, her struggles with the town's past bullying, and the slow release of her grief were so well-written that they had me reaching for the tissues.

One of the unique aspects of this novel is the ability of Florence and her father to see and interact with the dead. The book's charm lies not only in the endearing romance but also in the eccentricities of Florence's family, who run a funeral parlor in the quaint town of South. Their unconventional approach to death and their vibrant personalities make them unforgettable characters. Florence's gift and her journey to acceptance and reconciliation with her past were both touching and thought-provoking.

From the moment Florence encounters the ghostly Benji Andor, the story unfolds with captivating meet-cutes, humorous misadventures, and heartwarming reunions. It added a refreshing twist to the romance, making the book stand out among other love stories. I can't wait to recommend this gem to all my friends and share the magic I experienced while reading it.
