Shay Goldstein has dedicated nearly a decade of her life to being a producer at a Seattle public radio station, and she couldn't imagine herself anywhere else. However, her peaceful work environment takes an unexpected turn when Dominic Yun, a recent journalism master's program graduate, joins the team. From the moment Dominic arrives, it's clear that his confidence in his knowledge of public radio clashes with Shay's seasoned expertise, creating a constant clash of egos and ideas in the workplace.

When the struggling Seattle radio station needs a fresh concept to revive its ratings, Shay Goldstein comes up with a bold idea that her boss enthusiastically embraces. The concept? A show called "The Ex Talk," where two former partners will provide relationship advice live on air. The twist? Shay and Dominic are chosen as reluctant co-hosts, despite their existing animosity towards each other. Reluctantly, they agree to play the part, aware that it's a risk to deceive their audience. However, as the show gains traction and becomes a sensation in Seattle, Shay and Dominic find themselves entangled in a web of lies that becomes harder and harder to maintain.

As their chemistry on air becomes undeniable, Shay and Dominic's professional relationship starts to blur into something more personal. Caught between their growing feelings for each other and the fear of being exposed, they navigate the challenges of maintaining their deception while trying to explore a genuine connection. In an industry that values authenticity, the stakes are high, and the consequences of being discovered could go beyond just their careers.

“Make people cry, and then make them laugh,” my dad would say. “But most of all, make sure you’re telling a good story.”

This book was an absolute blast to read! It has all the elements that make a romantic comedy truly enjoyable - flirty banter, lighthearted moments, adorable romance, and even some steamy scenes to spice things up. The concept of the show/podcast "The Ex Talk" was brilliant and utterly captivating. I couldn't help but imagine how entertaining it would be if it were a real show.

The dynamic between Shay and Dominic was electric. Their initial dislike for each other created the perfect foundation for the hate-to-love trope, which is always a treat to witness. But what made it even more exciting was the added twist of the fake dating trope. Instead of pretending to be a couple, they had to pretend to be exes, and the resulting interactions were pure entertainment. The chemistry between them was palpable, and I couldn't help but root for them to overcome their differences and find their way to each other.

What I loved most about this book was its ability to balance light-hearted and fun moments with deeper emotional undertones. While the story was filled with laughter and delightful banter, it also delved into themes of vulnerability, trust, and the complexities of human relationships. Shay and Dominic's journey of self-discovery and growth added a layer of depth to the story, making it more than just a fluffy romance.

After having "The Ex Talk" on my TBR for what feels like forever, I'm thrilled to say that I finally picked it up and I am so glad I did! "The Ex Talk" is a delightful and witty romantic comedy that skillfully explores themes of truth, vulnerability, and the complexities of human relationships. Shay and Dominic's banter-filled interactions and undeniable chemistry make for an entertaining and heartwarming read.
