In the latest installment of the gripping Black Harbor mystery series by author Hannah Morrissey, Medical Examiner Rowan Winthorp finds herself entangled in a haunting and heart-wrenching case. On a chilling October night, Rowan investigates the death of her daughter's best friend, only to face an even more devastating blow when she discovers her own daughter, Chloe, is missing.

With a puzzling assortment of clues, Rowan and her husband delve into the investigation, but the more they uncover about Chloe, the more they realize they may not have truly known their own daughter. Secrets and transgressions begin to surface, threatening to unravel their family.

As Rowan grapples with grief and confronts her own past mistakes, a sense of justice looms in the background. It becomes evident that karma has arrived to collect its dues, and Rowan must confront the chilling truth as she strives to uncover what happened to her daughter and her friend.

I had so much fun reading this book; it was impossible to put down. The multiple points of view added an exciting dimension to the story, and just when I thought I had it all figured out, the author threw me for a loop! It felt like I was watching an intense episode of Criminal Minds, with every chapter keeping me on the edge of my seat. The way the author expertly weaved the guessing game throughout the book was masterful. I was constantly second-guessing myself as potential culprits emerged and suspicion shifted from one character to another. The tension kept building, drawing me deeper into the intricacies of the plot. It felt like being trapped in a web of mystery and suspense, and I was hooked.

The author's storytelling skills are top-notch, and the way the pieces fell into place was nothing short of brilliant. I was left in awe, reflecting on the impact of the jaw-dropping conclusion. This book is a testament to the author's ability to keep readers guessing until the very end. As a crime thriller enthusiast, I loved the intense and claustrophobic atmosphere the author created. Rowan's quest to find her missing daughter was deeply emotional and realistic, making it easy to empathize with her turmoil. The pacing was spot on, driving the narrative forward with relentless momentum, making it a compulsive read.

I can't wait to explore the previous two books in the Black Harbor mystery series, and I'll definitely be on the lookout for future installments. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher with the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
