Grace Evans, a tired New Yorker seeking a complete break from her hectic life, decides to rent an Airbnb on a ranch in rural Wyoming. To her delight, the property is managed by a charming man named Calvin Wells. However, as Grace settles in, she uncovers unsettling aspects of her surroundings: no cell phone signal, the mysterious disappearance of a woman, and an eerie vibe in the town that leaves her unsettled.

Despite the initial reservations and warnings from Calvin's acquaintances, Grace and Calvin develop a deep connection and begin to develop feelings for each other. However, as Grace's planned departure draws closer, their relationship takes a dark turn. Grace becomes increasingly suspicious of Calvin's behavior, sensing his growing obsession with her. At the same time, Calvin becomes consumed by his fear that Grace is keeping secrets from him.

This book had me totally engrossed and constantly wondering what would happen next. I had a gut feeling about some of the twists, but they still managed to keep me intrigued. There's a lot going on in this story that keeps you engaged, and I really enjoyed the dual perspectives that added depth to the narrative.

I was caught off guard by the abundance of romance in this book. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the unnecessary drama, the love triangle, and the overall behavior of the characters was starting to get on my nerves.

Despite the whirlwind of events in this book, from the eerie haunted house setting to animal massacres, encounters with wild creatures, unsettling townsfolk, dysfunctional family secrets, and encounters with deranged exes, you'll have to toughen up and face them head-on! There's never a dull moment as the suspense builds up. Every character is more unsettling than the last, and they all seem suspicious. Trust is in short supply, and you'll find yourself constantly guessing who is closest to the truth.

I have to admit, this book felt pretty slow until the end, and I was left wanting more. It's not my favorite when all the excitement is packed into the final chapters. However, I do appreciate that there were hints and clues sprinkled throughout the story that came together nicely in the end.

All in all, I enjoyed this story and if you're a fan of Jeneva Rose, definitely check out some of her other novels as well.
