An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

Rating: ★★★★☆

Dates Read: 10/13/23 - 10/18/23

In search of quick money, Jessica Farris participates in a psychological study focused on ethics and morality. However, as the study transitions from the lab to real life, the boundaries between reality and the experiment become increasingly unclear. Dr. Shields, the researcher, appears to read Jess's thoughts and secrets, manipulating her behavior. Trapped in a complex web of attraction, lies, and envy, Jess discovers that certain obsessions can lead to dangerous consequences.

"An Anonymous Girl" was a phenomenal read that hooked me right from the start. The alternating perspectives between Jessica and the doctor worked really well, and the chapters were just the right length. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen did an outstanding job with this psychological suspense novel. The storyline was gripping, the characters were well-developed, and the plot twists kept me eagerly turning pages.

I absolutely loved the deep moral questions raised in this book. Watching Jessica grapple with these dilemmas in everyday situations was fascinating. The characters, especially those with obsessive tendencies, were portrayed brilliantly, and seeing how others reacted to them added depth to the story.

This novel delved into themes of love, anger, betrayal, morality, and obsession, creating a dark and suspenseful atmosphere that lingered from beginning to end. While not the most far-fetched mystery, it was definitely twisted, unsettling, and incredibly unique. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a compelling and thought-provoking read.
