Surprisingly, fifteen years later, Derrick Winters, a member of the WCW, arrives in her village claiming she's the Chosen One. But Jess isn't chosen for the town's elite events or the WCW; she's selected to save her village, West Harbor.

    Despite her initial skepticism, Jess starts to believe in her abilities, especially as her connection with Derrick deepens. However, doubts arise about Derrick's true identity, forcing Jess to trust him and work together to protect West Harbor from a dark force. As summer wanes, Jess must use her magic not only to save her town but also to safeguard her heart. The question remains: can she harness her power in time to protect the village?

    This book was a cute and whimsical read that had a romance that made me feel giddy despite the insta-love trope. The characters like Esther, Dina, and Mark added a lot of fun to the mix, making the story lively and entertaining. 

    The magical elements kept me hooked, although I hoped for a stronger connection between Jessica and Derrick. The humor sprinkled throughout added a nice touch, but the ending fell a bit flat for me. Overall, a light and enjoyable read, but not without its quirks. Despite any times that the book was underwhelming, I will be keeping an eye out for the next book.
