That's Not My Name by Megan Lally
Rating: ★★★★☆
Dates Read: 11/22/23 - 11/26/23
A scared and battered teenager finds herself on a dirt road, clueless about her identity or how she ended up there. A passing cop brings her to the police station, where a worried man shows up, claiming to be her dad. Armed with her school ID and family pictures, he insists her name is Mary. Or so he says. Lola stormed off one night after a big fight with Drew, and now nobody can find her. Everyone in town, even the sheriff and Drew's friends, are convinced he did something to her. Drew's not bothered about clearing his name; he just wants to track down Lola before it's too late. But the longer she's missing, the fewer leads they have, and the scarier it gets for both of them. Time's ticking, and they're running out of options.
This YA thriller debut by Megan Lally had me glued to the pages! It's a crazy ride of suspense, drama, and unexpected twists. I couldn't put it down and finished it in one go. The dual perspectives and fast pace kept me guessing until the end. I thought I knew what was going on so many times, and every time I was wrong.
The epilogue was perfect and touching, wrapping up the story beautifully. Despite a heart-wrenching ending, I'm excited to see what Megan Lally comes up with next!
Big thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
