The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

Rating: ★★★★☆

Dates Read: 12/2/23 - 12/6/23

Jess is in need of a fresh start, having left her job and facing financial struggles. Seeking refuge with her half-brother Ben in Paris, she discovers a surprisingly posh apartment. However, Ben is nowhere to be found. As Jess delves into her brother's mysterious disappearance, she encounters a diverse group of neighbors, each harboring secrets. In this atmospheric tale, everyone is a neighbor, everyone is a suspect, and everyone holds pieces of the puzzle, leaving Jess to unravel the truth about her brother's uncertain future.

The only way I can describe this novel is interesting. There are a lot of characters, and some are MUCH weirder than others (Mimi...)

'The Paris Apartment' was a slow start for me, and the way the chapters are told got a little confusing. They swap between the past and the present, but there wasn't a super clear distinction of which one you were in. This may have been more of an issue to me since I was listening to the audiobook. The characters however are very dynamic, and there is a massive web of mystery and connections.

As far as the actual mystery goes, I could see it coming from a mile away. That being said, the DRAMA kept me invested. I couldn't find it in myself to be bothered where the novel fell flat for me, because I wanted to know every detail about these people.

Overall, I continuously enjoy Foley's work, and I can't wait to read more from her!
