Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams

Rating: ★★★★☆

Dates Read: 12/22/23 - 12/22/23

Three months after her twin sister Cambry's alleged suicide, Lena Nguyen is unconvinced by the official police version. With determination and her sister's car, Lena arrives at the remote Montana bridge where Cambry supposedly jumped. Armed with a cassette recorder, she plans to interview Corporal Raymond Raycevic, the highway patrolman who discovered her sister's body.

Raycevic's account raises questions, including a traffic stop an hour before Cambry's death, 16 failed 911 calls from her phone in a dead zone, and a mysterious text implicating the state trooper. Lena's quest for truth transforms into a gripping fight for survival, challenging her understanding of her sister and herself.

The book's tight timeline throws you right into the action, making it a real page-turner. With Lena's dual timelines, one is her imagining how Cambry's story played out, revealing the mystery bit by bit, you're hooked until the very end.

However, the frequent switches between narratives, especially with Lena's blog entries popping up, can be a bit confusing and make the story feel all over the place. Towards the end, some twists and events, while adding complexity, kind of muddy the waters rather than clarify.

Despite a few bumps, the book is loaded with twists and tense moments, keeping you guessing until the last pages. It's a quick, intense read, and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
