The Girl from Widow Hills by Megan Miranda

Rating: ★★★★☆

Dates Read: 1/2/24 - 1/4/24

Arden Maynor, once a child who disappeared while sleepwalking during a storm, survived and became a media sensation. Now living as Olivia to escape her past, she faces renewed interest in her story on the twentieth anniversary of her rescue. As the anniversary approaches, Olivia experiences unsettling events, including a return to sleepwalking. One night, she awakens to a shocking discovery: a corpse at her feet. As if that's not bad enough, it belongs to a man she once knew, as Arden Maynor.

This is a creepy and unsettling thriller, using a dual timeline and mixed media approach for an intricate story. As I reached the last few chapters, the twist got me, and I couldn't help but feel a bit blind for missing the hints. With numerous suspects and a dynamic plot, it's hard to focus on any one thing.

However, the ending didn't sit well with me. It felt rushed and left a lot of questions hanging. Still, Miranda is a go-to author for me. The captivating style of The Girl from Widow Hills, much like her other books, kept me hooked. The plot and the writing are enough for me to recommend this, and I am highly anticipating more from Miranda.
