The Personal Assistant by Kimberly Belle
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Dates Read: 12/29/23 - 1/2/24
When Alex began sharing her family moments online, she never expected to be an influencer. Overnight, her hobby turned into a full-time job, with her sharp assistant, AC, managing everything. But a controversial post changes the game, turning her followers toxic. When AC goes missing, and a body is discovered, Alex faces threats not just online but right at home, unearthing a mystery that hits too close for comfort.
Belle's novel landed in the middle for me—not mind-blowing but not boring either. I guessed a lot of what was going on pretty early on, but it was very entertaining. That factor alone kept me curious enough to stay tuned in until the end.
This story is told from multiple perspectives, alternating between the past and the present. I think it works well here, it played a big part in keeping me hooked, while trying to throw me off the twists. I didn't care much for the ending, there was a lot of information thrown at you at one time, and it was hard to keep up. In spite of that, I'm still open to reading more from Belle in the future.
