Rating: ★★★★★
Dates Read: 5/20/24 - 5/20/24
Bel has spent her life in the shadow of her mom’s mysterious disappearance. Sixteen years ago, Rachel Price vanished, and young Bel, the only witness, has no memory of it. Rachel is presumed dead, and Bel wants everyone to move on.
When the Price family agrees to a true crime documentary, the past is dug up again. Just as Bel looks forward to the filming ending, Rachel reappears, and life changes forever.
Rachel has an unbelievable story about her disappearance, but Bel isn’t sure it’s true. If Rachel is lying, where has she been? And could she be dangerous? With the cameras still rolling, Bel must uncover the truth about her mother and why she really came back.
I couldn't put this book down and kept thinking about it even when I wasn’t reading. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something unexpected would happen. Holly Jackson is a master at dropping clues that keep you guessing but make perfect sense by the end.
Bel’s attitude was fantastic; she was such a fun character. I don’t want to give away too much because there are so many surprises, but I loved this book and highly recommend it.
If Holly Jackson writes it, I’ll definitely read it.
