THEN
Ellie, Laurel's beloved daughter, disappeared at fifteen, leaving behind unanswered questions.
NOW
Ten years later, Laurel is still searching for Ellie. When she meets Floyd, a charming stranger in a café, her life changes. Introduced to Floyd's nine-year-old daughter, Poppy, Laurel is shocked—Poppy looks just like Ellie did at that age.
The striking resemblance reignites Laurel's search for answers. As she uncovers hidden secrets and unsettling truths, Laurel confronts the haunting mystery of Ellie's disappearance and the people still hiding secrets.
This book had me hooked with its compelling and addictive writing style—I couldn't put it down.
The characters felt incredibly real. Ellie, who seemed like the perfect daughter with a flawless life, was written very well. Laurel's struggle with never knowing what happened to her missing daughter hits hard. When Laurel meets Floyd, the story really gets going. I actually really enjoyed the subplots in this story, I felt like they were done well. It cleverly mixes Ellie's disappearance with other storylines that add depth and keep you engaged.
Some parts and twists were easy to guess, but the book was well-written, fast-paced, and kept me glued to the pages. I am obsessed with Jewell's novels, and I can't wait to read more!
