Catherine Sterling thinks she knows her mother, Ruth, who is quiet, hardworking, and devoted to her daughter. It's always been just the two of them. But as Catherine gets ready to leave home and start a new career, Ruth will do anything to stop her. Ruth believes her daughter would never rebel or question her past. But as Ruth's efforts to keep Catherine close start to reveal her secrets, both mother and daughter find themselves caught in a web of lies. This book hooks you from the start and is hard to put down. I liked the dual perspectives, and the pacing was just right. The story is all about family secrets, and once everything comes out, the family dynamics get really interesting. I highly recommend it for thriller fans.
