Mae's sister, Inez, is missing, but Mae won’t give up. While cleaning out Inez’s studio, she finds an old painting with a peeling corner that might hide secrets. Mae thinks the painting is tied to Inez's disappearance, so she follows her sister's last steps. A boy who says he was Inez’s neighbor offers to help, but Mae isn’t sure she can trust him.
Together, they look for clues from Inez’s research. Their search uncovers old secrets, bringing Mae closer to finding out what happened to her sister and the truth behind the strange painting.
I found this very interesting, it had a little bit of a slow start but once it got going, I was very invested. In my opinion, it has a very unique story. I would be interested in reading more from this author in the future!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan for letting me have this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
