The Ever After by Sarah Pekkanen
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Dates Read: 7/12/24 - 7/15/24
Josie and Frank Moore seem happy in the Chicago suburbs with their two young daughters. Josie feels lucky to have a wonderful husband and father in Frank. One Saturday, Josie borrows Frank’s phone and reads nine words that shatter her world. Now, she’s determined to uncover the full extent of her husband's secret, surprising everyone, especially herself, with how far she will go. I liked the writing and found the story relatable, even though I haven’t experienced the situation myself. The ending felt rushed. The book is well written, but not a page-turner. I kept waiting for something big to happen and was disappointed when it didn’t. It was okay, but not my favorite.
