One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.75/5)

Dates Read: 7/26/24 - 7/29/24

Lyla feels like everything is going wrong, with her research fizzling, and her relationships future looking rather uncertain. They get the opportunity to join a new reality TV show, The Perfect Couple, and she agrees to go. Not long after being whisked off to a tropical paradise, Lyla realizes things are starting to go wrong. The first challenge leaves everyone rattled and angry, and an overnight storm only makes things worse. They're cut off from the mainland, they have no cellphones, and they're unable to contact the crew that brought them there.  As tensions run high and fresh water runs low, Lyla finds that this game show is all too real—and the stakes are life or death.

I actually really enjoyed this. It didn't feel like your typical island mystery/thriller. I really loved the four main female characters as well. There's something to love about all of them. I loved Ware's descriptions of the island, it felt very real. I could picture all of it in my mind. The pacing, to me, was very well done. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! I am a big Ruth Ware fan, so that wasn't a surprise to me!
