The House That Horror Built by Christina Henry
Rating: ★★★★☆
Dates Read: 7/31/24 - 8/2/24
Horror movie loving Harry Adams has just accepted a job cleaning house for horror-movie director Javier Castillo. His house is filled from top to bottom with props and costumes, as well as glittering awards from making movies. Until family tragedy and scandal forced him to vanish from the industry. Javier values discretion, and Harry always tries to keep the house clean. But when she hears noises from behind a locked door, noises that sound a lot like a human voice calling for help. Harry knows not asking questions is important if she wants to keep her job, but she soon discovers that the house may have secrets she can't ignore.
This was a very interesting read, and the premise itself was insanely original. I did enjoy this but I do think I enjoyed other books from Henry more. The flashes into Harry's childhood were one of my favorite parts of the book by far. I will say that I wasn't very surprised by the ending, but the rest of the book made up for that. It held my attention and I enjoyed it overall!
