A Brush with Love by Mazey Eddings

A Brush With Love #1

Rating:

Dates Read: 2/8/23 - 2/9/23

Harper is on the edge of her seat, eagerly anticipating acceptance into a prestigious oral surgery residency program. However, her focus gets unexpectedly derailed when she literally crashes into Dan. Harper would prefer enduring a root canal without novocaine rather than facing any distractions, no matter how adorable they may be.

As a first-year dental student with a familial legacy to uphold, Dan doesn't share the same fervor for extracting teeth as Harper does. Despite their differences, he finds himself falling for her and is willing to abide by Harper's terms and conditions in their budding relationship.

With the best intentions and the poorest follow-throughs, Harper and Dan decide to embark on the journey of being "just friends." However, as they spend more time together and their connection deepens, Harper becomes apprehensive. The thought of trading dental fillings for romantic feelings terrifies her, as she fears it may lead to losing control and disrupting her meticulously organized life. Despite finding Dan undeniably attractive, she can't afford to let her carefully constructed world unravel.

“The truth is, falling in love with you was the most inevitable, uncontrollable thing to ever hit me.”

I am convinced that I will read anything and everything Mazey Eddings publishes. Literally, publish your grocery list and I'll read it. I am locked in. Harper and Dan were so precious. The slow burn, the will-they-won't-they, the PINING, and the sexual tension. I was in tears by the end of this book.

I loved the representation of anxiety and grief, and the combination of those with untraditional family dynamics. Eddings handled it beautifully, and it tugged at my heartstrings. I really loved the complex backstory that Dan had, and the insight into his relationship with his mom. I feel like a lot of times that's not something that we get as readers, and it gives him so much more character. He's also literally perfect so there's that too. I recommend this whole series to absolutely everyone.
