Don't Let Her Stay by Nicola Sanders
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Dates Read: 7/24/23 - 7/25/23
Joanne's life seems picture-perfect with a loving husband, Richard, and their beautiful baby girl, Evie. But everything takes a dark turn when Richard's estranged daughter, Chloe, reappears after two years of silence. Chloe offers to move in temporarily to assist Joanne with the new baby, but Joanne can't shake the feeling that something is terribly wrong.
As strange events start to unfold, Joanne questions her sanity and wonders if Chloe is truly there to help or if she has made a grave mistake by allowing her into their home. With no one believing her fears, Joanne is left to confront a dangerous threat lurking within her own house.
This book had some ups and downs for me. While I enjoyed the fast-paced and anxiety-inducing storyline, I couldn't help but feel frustrated with the characters. Richard was not my favorite, and I really wanted Joanne to stand up for herself more.
The plot twist at the end was somewhat predictable, which took away from the overall impact for me. Additionally, the book felt repetitive at times, and the double plot twist was unnecessary. I think I would've liked it more if it had ended at the original plot twist. After the cliffhanger ending, I would read a sequel just to see what happens after.
Overall, it was a quick and mindless read, but it didn't quite have the grip I was hoping for. Still, if you're looking for a fast-paced and suspenseful story, this might be worth a try.
