The Last to Vanish by Megan Miranda

Rating: ★★★★☆

Dates Read: 9/18/23 - 9/21/23

In the picturesque town of Cutter’s Pass, Abigail Lovett manages The Passage Inn, a charming resort surrounded by the beauty of the North Carolina mountains. The town is known for its outdoor activities and mysterious past, including a series of unsolved disappearances. The story takes a dark turn when journalist Landon West, investigating the vanishing trail, goes missing. As his brother Trey seeks answers, Abby uncovers incriminating evidence, revealing hidden truths about her coworkers, neighbors, and friends. In her quest for the truth, Abby realizes she knows far less about the people around her than she thought.

I was captivated by the intriguing concept of this story, set in a mysterious and secluded location that exudes a dark and isolated atmosphere. The town's enigmatic history intertwined with a series of disappearances added depth to the plot. Miranda's descriptive writing painted a vivid picture, making it easy to immerse myself in the story's world.

The gripping narrative compelled me to race towards the end, eager to uncover the truth and validate my theories. This was my first experience with Megan Miranda's work, and I'm looking forward to exploring more of her books in the future.
