The Guest by B.A. Paris

Rating: ★★★★☆

Dates Read: 11/26/23 - 12/2/23

Iris and Gabriel live in the British countryside with their daughter and French friends, Laure and Pierre. Things get messy when Gabriel witnesses someone's death, and the guilt starts to eat away at him. In the midst of dealing with his trauma, their friend Laure moves in after her husband confesses having a secret kid. Iris and Gabriel say she can stay, but Laure starts acting weird, digging into the recent accident.

As the tensions rise in their home, the only relief is a new couple in town. But they bring their own drama, including a shady gardener. As secrets and issues pile up, can Iris and Gabriel's marriage handle the heat?

I'll admit, at the start, I had a bit of trouble keeping up with all the different names and characters—there are three main couples in the mix. However, once the story got rolling, it became ridiculously addictive. I couldn't put it down.

The pace is fast, and the writing is top-notch. There's a lot happening, and I was so engrossed that I completely missed the plot twist. Needless to say, I'm excited to read more from B.A. Paris.

Big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. "The Guest" is currently expected to publish on February 20th, 2024.
