Legendary by Stephanie Garber
Donatella Dragna has saved her sister Scarlett from danger in the magical world of Caraval. But Tella still owes a mysterious figure a favor: finding out the real name of Caraval's master, Legend.
To fulfill her promise, Tella joins Caraval again, facing dangers from a murderous royal, complicated romance, and family secrets. Caraval demands bravery and cleverness, and Tella risks everything to uncover Legend's identity and protect her loved ones. But if Tella fails, she could lose everything she cares about, maybe even her life. And if she succeeds, she might ruin Caraval and Legend forever.
“Every good story needs a villain. But the best villains are those you secretly like”
Legendary is a magical adventure that kept me hooked from start to finish. While I saw some plot twists coming, they still packed a punch and added to the excitement of the story. I found this book even more enchanting than the first, with new settings and myths coming to life. The abstract nature of the story allowed me to get lost in my imagination, which I loved.
Tella, the main character, is refreshingly honest and knows what she wants. The descriptions throughout the book are beautiful and add to the dreamlike feel of Caraval. Garber's writing is amazing, weaving words together seamlessly.
The open-endedness of the ending has me intrigued about what's next, and I immediately started Finale when I finished this. Despite figuring out some twists, I'm still obsessed with the series and can't wait to read more from Garber.
