The Other Mistress by Shanora Williams

Rating: ★★★★☆

Dates Read: 5/20/24 - 5/21/24

Adira Smith-Cortez, a self-made multi-millionaire, discovers her husband Gabriel is cheating with two women: Jocelyn, a club owner, and Julianna, a celebrity makeup artist. Desperate to save her marriage, Adira agrees to a plan from Jocelyn to break up Gabriel and Julianna by befriending Julianna under a fake identity. As Gabriel’s lies unravel and Julianna learns the truth, Adira’s world starts to collapse. Pushed to dangerous extremes by Jocelyn, Adira must decide how far she’ll go to reclaim her happiness and how much of herself she’s willing to lose.

I was really frustrated with Adira and couldn't understand why she stayed with her awful husband, Gabriel. The flashbacks to her childhood were interesting and made the big twist even better.

I liked the callbacks to Ivy and Lola’s story too. I like to try and figure out the twists before they happen, but I was mostly in the dark. The characters are pretty annoying, so be prepared for that.

Overall, I liked this book, it was a wild ride that managed to shock me in the end. I can't wait to read more from Shanora Williams!
