Rating: ★★★★✰

Dates Read: 5/23/23 - 5/25/23

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones, a young witch with a broken heart, cast a curse on her horrible boyfriend using her magic. Believing it to be harmless, she thought it would only result in a few bad hair days for him. However, when the charming and heartbreaker, Rhys Penhallow, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia, everything goes awry. What was supposed to be a simple trip to recharge the town's ley lines and attend the fall festival becomes a disaster for Rhys.

Mishaps are following Rhys wherever he goes, and Vivi begins to suspect that her Ex Hex curse might not be as harmless as she thought. Strange and dangerous occurrences plague Graves Glen, including murderous wind-up toys, a vengeful ghost, and a talkative cat with intriguing secrets.

Now, Vivi and Rhys must set aside their undeniable chemistry and work together to save the town from the havoc caused by the curse. They must find a way to break the break-up curse before it escalates any further, jeopardizing not only their lives but the safety of everyone in Graves Glen.

I absolutely adore this book! It surprised me with how much I fell in love with it. It's filled with lovable characters, top-notch banter, and undeniable chemistry. Rhys Penhallow stole my heart, and I couldn't help but root for him and Vivi. Beyond the romance, Vivi's family dynamics and the touch of magic throughout the story added delightful layers. The Halloween vibes also made the book extra enjoyable, despite reading it in August!

Overall, The Ex Hex delivers lovable characters and captivating relationships. Sure, the plot might have been a tad easy at times, and some tension could have been drawn out further, but that didn't diminish my enjoyment. The sizzling chemistry between Vivi and Rhys, along with Sterling's excellent comedic timing, had me bursting into laughter numerous times. The clever one-liners, hysterical situations, and well-placed, amusing F-bombs added to the entertainment.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book. It's cute, well-written, and I didn't even realize it was part of a series until now, so I'm thrilled to dive into the rest of the books!
