The Crown by Kiera Cass

The Selection #5.

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Dates Read: 9/27/23 - 10/1/23

Princess Eadlyn didn't expect to find love among the thirty-five suitors in her Selection. At first, she was eager to send them all home. However, as palace events push her into the spotlight, she starts questioning her desire to remain single. Uncertain about her future, Eadlyn discovers that matters of the heart can be unexpected. Now, she faces a choice that feels incredibly challenging and crucial, forcing her to reconsider what she truly wants.

"The Crown" marks the conclusion of Eadlyn's journey in The Selection series. While I was initially drawn in by my curiosity about the characters' futures, this book left me disappointed. Eadlyn's character development felt forced, and the story lacked the depth of the previous books. Maxon's decision to step down for Eadlyn seemed unrealistic, making the plot lose its authenticity.

The ending felt hurried, with conflicts resolving too conveniently. However, I did appreciate Eadlyn's unconventional choice, which broke away from traditional norms. Overall, it didn't match up to the charm of the original books, but it's a bittersweet end to The Selection series.
