The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell

Rating: ★★★★☆

Dates Read: 9/1/23 - 9/5/23

In 2017, Tallulah, a 19-year-old, goes on a date, leaving her baby with her mother, Kim. When Tallulah doesn't return after going to a party in the nearby woods, Kim's whole world changes.

In 2019, Sophie finds a note in the same woods near her boyfriend's boarding school, instructing her to "DIG HERE"...

The story, told in two timelines, had some confusion due to the minimal age gap of the characters involved. The intensity needed for an unsolved mystery plot wasn't fully achieved. Perhaps keeping the story entirely in the present would have been better. Despite this, the book was excellent, providing a gradual suspense build-up with unexpected twists.

Lisa Jewell's storytelling approach, offering a slow burn of revelations, made the reading experience thoroughly enjoyable. The unpredictable ending was a highlight, showcasing Jewell's skill in crafting engaging plots.
