The One by Kiera Cass
The Selection #3.
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)

As the Selection competition comes to a close, America finds herself in an unexpected struggle. Initially uninterested in the crown, she's now caught up in vying for Prince Maxon's affections. With dangers escalating outside, she must fight hard for the future she wants, realizing the situation is more dire than she thought.
"Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway."
This book was a huge improvement for America's character. She's become more assertive, brave, and direct, learning to stand up for herself and fight for what she wants. The frustration came from both Maxon and America refusing to admit their feelings for each other, which was maddening.
The character development was great, especially with Celeste, who transformed from a horrible person to someone truly great. The side characters added depth, although I wished some were more prominent. The ending left me devastated, and I was so upset about Queen Amberly. The audiobook, narrated by Amy Rubinate, was fantastic, enhancing the overall experience.
